This week Adam asked a great question:
“Hi Steve,
I am really busy putting out fires, and I don’t have time to browse all the security patch websites looking for things. Do you have any good security email lists I can sign up for?”
There are so many out there that have lots of activity, people mailing back and forth. That kind of thing can get in the way of finding the latest security flaws.
The few that I recommend only have security notifications, nothing else.
They are:
United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team – This list just sends a mail once a week, and gives you an overview of major security issues across all platforms
Oracle Security Notifications – I subscribe to this one just for the Java security notifications. That seems to happen quite often.
Adobe Security Notifications – Good list to be on to find out about flash zero day flaws
Microsoft Security Notifications – Last but not least, Microsoft security notifications.
These lists can keep you up to date, and find out about security flaws before your users do.
One more thing…Subscribe to my newsletter and get 11 free network administrator tools, plus a 30 page user guide so you can get the most out of them. Click Here to get your free tools

Thanks for the tip steve!
Hi Steve,
Thanks for these two lists. I am so busy with my job that I don’t have time to search around for things like this. I really appreciate the tips you put out every week.
