IntelliAdmin Remote Control Lan

Getting Started - If you have
not done it already -
Download IntelliAdmin LAN edition 2.8.
Begin the install
by double clicking on the program:

Click next, and select the folder you want to install the program.
Once you have finished the install. Launch IntelliAdmin LAN Edition:

In the box
type the hostname or IP address of the computer you want to control.
This must be a computer on your local network - since IntelliAdmin
installs the agent software automatically it cannot work over the
internet (Use IntelliAdmin PRO for over the internet)
If you are having trouble figuring out what to type in this box,
then you can simply click on the button with the '...'
Once this button is clicked, IntelliAdmin will search your network
for machines

Simply
select a computer from the list, and click OK. After you click
connect, IntelliAdmin will attempt to control the machine:

IntelliAdmin will ask for a windows administrator password that is
valid on the remote machine. The account used must have
administrator rights on the remote computer.

Once
you type in a valid username and password you should be controlling
the remote machine!
Connection Problems
There are a few reasons why you may
not be able to connect to a remote machine:
-A firewall is blocking port 2790
-The remote computer is running Windows 95/98/ME
-You do not have administrative privileges on the remote machine
-The remote computer is running Windows XP SP2
If a firewall is blocking the connection, you will need to make sure
TCP port 2790 is open for listening on the remote host, and you can
connect to the remote machine's admin share.
Windows 95/98 and ME are not supported by IntelliAdmin LAN edition -
you can download
IntelliAdmin PRO to control these
machines.
A windows administrator account is required to control the machine -
without it IntelliAdmin cannot automatically install the software it
needs to control the remote machine.
If you are running windows XP SP2, please
see this tutorial to open the firewall and allow IntelliAdmin
access.
Settings for slow connections
You may have machines on your network that are on a slower
connection. There are a few settings you can change to improve
performance. Open IntelliAdmin, click options, and select the
display tab. Change the settings to the ones shown below:
What password to use?
It can be confusing since you never set a password on install
right? The password IntelliAdmin is asking you for is the windows
administrator username and password.
This is set in the control panel of windows on the machine you are
trying to control. See in this screen shot:

Once you have gone into the user
accounts section you need to make sure the account with
administrator privileges has a password - windows will not allow
IntelliAdmin to connect to the machine if a password is not set.
Computer
Names You may not know the
computer name of the remote computer. You can use a
free utility
from IntelliAdmin to determine this easily
This program should be run on the computer you
are trying to control. Once you have the name you can type it in the
connect window and click connect
For example, the program was run on a
laptop and we see the hostname:

Saving Settings
When IntelliAdmin is launched, the default
settings are used. These can be changed by simply picking the
settings you prefer and clicking the "Make Default" button.
A connection may also be saved to a shortcut. The only requirement
is that a computer name is specified before the connection is saved.
Simply pick the settings you would like, type in a computer name and
click on the "Save As" button.

Save the shortcut to the hard drive. Now you can
double click it to connect automatically with the settings you
specified.

Command Line
Settings can be passed to IntelliAdmin in two
ways. IntelliAdmin can be called with arguments after the exe in the
format of Name=Value. For example. If we wanted to set the hostname
to computer1, it would look like this:

Another way to use the command line is to launch it via the
iadmin://
URL.
For example, we could click on start, then run, and type:
iadmin://computer1
to launch IntelliAdmin and connect to computer1 automatically:

Because the URL follows specifications for Internet URLs, if you
want to set additional parameters, you need to use this format:
iadmin://computer1?Name1=Value1&Name2=Value2&Name3=Value3
Here is the list of supported variables that can
be set via the command line:
HostName -
The hostname IntelliAdmin will connect when launched.
FullScreen - Viewer will be
maximized to full screen when connected.
HideTrayIcon - Hides the tray icon
from remote user
AutoUninstall - Automatically
removes agent after disconnect
LogOff - Log off system after
disconnect
LockWorkstation - Lock workstation
after disconnect
DisableRemoteInputs - Disable mouse
and keyboard for remote user while connected
DisableLocalInputs - Do not send
mouse or keyboard events to remote.
DisableEffects - Disable user
interface effects that tend to slow down remote control screen
updates.
RemoveWallpaper - Turn off
wallpaper while connected to remote users machine.
ColorDepth - Set
the color Depth that the remote machine is displayed. 0=True
Color, 1 = 256 Colors, 2 = 64 Colors, 3 = 16 Colors.
A final and more complex example of using
command line parameters. We want to set the color to 256, disable
user interface effects, and force the machine to logoff when we
disconnect:
From the command line:
iadmin.exe
HostName=Computer1 ColorDepth=1 DisableEffects=True LogOff=True
From A URL:
iadmin://computer1?ColorDepth=1&DisableEffects=True&LogOff=True
Full Screen Mode
The viewer can easily be switched to full screen mode by
pressing ctrl-alt-enter all at the same time.
Sending
CTRL-ALT-DELETE to remote host
This key combination can be sent to the remote host by pressing
CTRL-ALT-INSERT all at the same time.
