Getting Started - IntelliAdmin
Internet Edition has two components: An agent, and a client. The agent is
installed on the machine, or machines you would like to control. The
client is then used to connect and control the remote machines.
Lets start out by
downloading IntelliAdmin Internet Edition
and installing the agent on a machine you would like to control:
When the agent install is complete, it
will ask you to enter a password. Please pick a password that is at
least 6 characters long. Keep this password in mind - you will need
it when connecting to this machine:
Once the agent has been installed,
you should see the indicator icon in the windows tray, down by the
time
Now we are ready to control this machine. Download and install the
viewer on another computer:
Once the install is complete, you can start it by double clicking
the icon it has created on your desktop:
Type in the hostname or IP address of the remote host and click
connect. Once IntelliAdmin has connected it will ask you for the
password (This is the password you set when installing the agent)
Click OK and you are controlling the remote machine
Connection Problems
There are a few reasons why you may
not be able to connect to a remote machine:
-A firewall is blocking port 2705
-The client is running on a limited internet connection
If a firewall is blocking the connection, you will need to make sure
TCP port 2705 is open for listening on the remote computer.
Some networks block ports outside of web access ports such as 80 and
443. You can set the agent to listen on one of these ports. If you
do you will need to add the port number to the end of the host name.
For example, if we change the port to 443 on one of our agents we
would type:
some.server.com:443
That way the client knows to connect using 443 instead of the
default port.
Slow Connections
On slower connections you can reduce
the number of colors that IntelliAdmin uses by clicking on the
settings button within the client. You can experiment with the lower
quality levels to see how much you need to cut back:
Full Screen Mode
The viewer can easily be switched to full screen mode by
pressing ctrl-alt-enter all at the same time.
Sending
CTRL-ALT-DELETE to remote host
This key combination can be sent to the remote host by pressing
CTRL-ALT-INSERT all at the same time.
